The New Way to Care for your Plants

Problem

People are unable to care for their home plants when they are away for extended periods of time. Without proper care, plants can dry out, and eventually die which can be frustrating for the plant owner after having to invest time and money into their plants.

A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and
careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above
all it teaches entire trust.
— Gertrude Jekyll

Why SmartPot?

Creating a smart device called SmartPot and helps the plant owners feel more confident in their ability to care for their plants from wherever they are. They will be able to control these pot settings through an app that connects to the device helping avoid the cost and frustration of having to replace their plants constantly. The app includes light settings, misters control, and a calendar set up option. The plant owner will be able to continue with their regular schedules without having to worry about the health of their plants.

Website

Prototype 1

We wanted to use a hierarchical grid, which is ideal for creating dynamic and adaptable layouts that emphasize contrast and variation and are based on the visual weight and importance of the elements rather than fixed units or measurements. We developed a website that would host our story and how this product came about. Displaying functions, customization options, functionality and other features. Having developed a product, we thought it was vital to have a user friendly and organized website. Having said that, we imagine this to be an ecommerce website where we can sell and easily display our product.

App

Our Smartpot app was carefully designed and personalized for our product, and every functionality chosen in order to enhance the Smartpot experience. Adding special features like lighting and water mister presets, and the scheduling calendar, were some of the additional features we thought would not only increase the functionality of our product but create a fun and engaging experience for our fellow plant parents
