AURORA WINE

Problem

In designing the wine bottle and label for a California white wine, the central problem was to create a packaging solution that distinguished the wine from competitors while appealing to a sophisticated, discerning audience. To create a wine bottle that stands out from other alcoholic beverages. As well as design a label for a California white wine that appeals to a sophisticated wine connoisseur.

Solution

In this project for my Packaging class at Chico State, the goal was to create a bottle and its packaging that can be seen on the shelves sold at other stores. I created a wine bottle representing the sun and giving off an expensive and sophisticated vibe. I chose the sun because it not only represents life but it's also known to typify energy, power, and clarity.  I made a list and sketched out possible types of bottles that can be presented with this midnight blue color, and gold. However, I wanted the gold to shine so that the sun appeared to glisten and appear powerful. A wine connoisseur wants to feel relaxed and soothed but also wants to feel powerful and curious when it comes to their wine which influenced me to go with a bright sun with a dark luscious blue. I also wanted a gold front side for the box to appear different and catch customers' attention in a store with other wine bottles. The color palette was used to project a feeling of elegance and refinement. Wine lovers speak about feeling relaxed and warm when sipping on their wine, and the low dark blue with circular halos keeps the viewer's eyes flowing and feeling relaxed.
